Welcome to the website of the Yalta Chekhov Campaign/ Anton Chekhov Foundation (UK charity No 1128310). The Campaign's aim is the long-term preservation of the remarkable dacha in Yalta where Anton Chekhov lived at the end of his life. It was here that he wrote some of his best-known works, including The Cherry Orchard, Three Sisters and The Bishop. We have a growing number of supporters and are particularly grateful to Michael Frayn, Tom Stoppard, Kenneth Branagh, Ralph Fiennes and Prunella Scales who have kindly agreed to be our Patrons. NEWS Please read our latest newsletter to find out about fantastic developments at the Chekhov House Museum in Yalta. Meanwhile, the Anton Chekhov Foundation is looking for an experienced textile conservator restore some of the original fabrics. Email us for more information. After a hurricane on 16 February, the modern building in the museum complex, containing priceless literary exhibits, was left without a roof. This clip comes from a local television station.
We would like to thank everyone who participated in Chekhov's 150th birthday celebrations in January by coming to one of the shows at the Hampstead Theatre. It was wonderful to discover that so many people share our passion for Chekhov's work, and want to help preserve his legacy: the shows were completely sold out. We hope soon to be able to confirm the total sum raised during the week. |
